CAT COZIES

For all you cat and mystery lovers, a selection of mysteries that prominently feature cats as main characters, heroes and sleuths. It's amazing what these animals bring to the stories, creativity, a unique feline perspective, and plenty of humor. Even if you're not a big cat fan, you may find yourself enchanted by these cozy mysteries, the cats and their owners. And, here's the NY Times debate between authors on whether their cat characters can or should be able to talk: THE GREAT CAT FIGHT.

Patricia Fry is author of The Klepto Cat series (and avid cat lover)

Rags loves to take things that don't belong to him. He stashes them around the house and reveals them as needed when they are important to solving a mystery. Although Rags is the star of the series, the author cleverly includes all the animals around her Veterinarian human heroes. Delightful writing, fun stories and entertaining cat-tastrophes. In addition, Patricia includes compassionate animal considerations without being heavy handed or preachy. Patricia is a former magazine writer and non-fiction book author where she honed her writing skills. She owns her own publishing company, speaks at writer conferences and works with authors on their book projects.

The Klepto Cat Mystery series is now AWARD WINNING

Book 2 in the series--Cat-Eye Witness--just placed in the prestigious Los Angeles Times Festival of Books Competition!!!

Claws for a Cause by Patricia Fry

WOLVES, CATS & THIEVES: In Book 15 of the series, Savannah and Michael have won a trip to Hawaii where they have some disturbing experiences. After arriving back home, things get more confusing. Their home has been broken into, and it points toward Savannah's best friend who had the key to feed the animals. Rumors of wolves in the area have people trigger happy, and when a mysterious pregnant teenager is found sleeping in the barn, claiming she hid something in Savannah's luggage, things just get more complicated. Some very dangerous criminals invade this small rural community. The entire community is pulled into this complicated story of theft, greed, drugs, family, friendship, trust, compassion and life-changing circumstances. And, of course, Rags is right in the middle of it all, as well as a part-wolf dog and a horse. Yeah, you had to be there. So, grab this one for a romping good read. ~Review by Sandy Penny, SweetMysteryBooks.blogspot.com *****Five Stars

Meow for the Money by Patricia Fry - Book 14

MONEY CAN'T BUY YOU LOVE - I'm not a big cat fan, so I am always surprised at how much I like this series. I've read several. I think they keep getting better. Better plots, more developed characters, lots of compassion for animals and people. I love how Rags keeps pointing them in the right direction and how his kleptomania has become an asset in finding clues. When Rags finds the wealthy June's missing cat, the whole family is drawn into an age old drama of money and inheritance greed. Plenty of suspects, several murders and a host of caring people who come to the frightened woman's aid when she needs it most. Everybody's trust issues are up, and sometimes you have to look outside the family to find those who really care. Great read as always. I think this may be my favorite so far in this series or perhaps I've just forgotten how great the others were. ~ Review by Sandy Penny, SweetMysteryBooks.blogspot.com *****Five Stars

Mansion of Meows by Patricia Fry - Book 9

RAGS TO RICHES - As the Klepto Cat series continues, Rags is being presented to the world in a documentary about his stolen goods exploits and crime solving abilities. Rags and his family are invited to the Peyton Mansion for the premier, and of course, Rags leads them all into a mystery. When he disappears from the premier, they fear he has been catnapped again, and in their search for him, they uncover the dark secrets of the Mansion of Meows and the Peyton family. For all you cat lovers and cat mystery lovers, this is a great story and an interesting journey. Patricia Fry continues to delight us with her cat-astrophic wanderings. ~Review by Sandy Penny, founder SweetMysteryBooks.blogspot.com  ***** Five Stars.

First the large, powerful feline discovers that, through some strange, inexplicable phenomenon, he now has the ability to understand human language. Then he discovers he can speak it as well! It's a nightmare for a cat who'd prefer to sleep the day away carefree, but Joe can handle it. That is, until he has the misfortune to witness a murder in the alley behind Jolly's Deli -- and worse, to be seen witnessing it. With all his nine lives suddenly at risk, Joe's got no choice but to get to the bottom of the heinous crime -- because his mouse-hunting days are over for good unless he can help bring a killer to justice.
